“On the first day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, a gorgeous piece of jewellery!”
The 12 days of Christmas are fully cushioned in every person’s memory. Originated in 1780, today it is still a popular carol, but the song has evolved to signify the lavish gift-giving that surrounds Christmas time. For us, we instantly think of Ellen Degeneres’s incredibly iconic 12 Days of Giveaways, yet for many Christians, it also has become associated with Twelvetide in the liturgical calendar.
Although traditionally the 12 Days of Christmas is meant to signify the period between the 25th of December and the 6th of January, many modern interpretations (like ours and Ellen Degeneres), use it to interpret the first 12 Days of December, adding to the already exciting build-up to Christmas. This is why today on the 5th of December, the 5th day of Christmas, we have decided to compile together five Gold rings from our glorious antique collection on our site!
Georgian
For our Georgian Gold ring, we have decided to choose this gorgeous Georgian 14ct Gold Split Ring. Featuring Rococo engravings, these split rings are highly sought after in the antique world and can be used to attach a multitude of glittering antique charms and pendants. On the other hand, this split ring can be worn strung along an antique chain, or we could even have this piece made into a necklace or bracelet where a fine Gold chain is attached to either side of the piece, instantly making this ring modern and classic! This split ring, in particular, is an exemplary example of high-quality craftsmanship, epitomising the luxe aesthetic of Regency gentlewomen and men.
Victorian
We have a myriad of glittering Victorian Gold rings on our site, but we couldn’t resist including this beautiful 18ct Gold band! Confidently hallmarked to 1884, this band would be a regal wedding band or alternatively, this piece would look gorgeous in your very own ring stack, akin to ours above! The enchanting hand-engraved celestial and geometric motifs add to this piece’s antique charm and the wide shank is simply unusual.
Edwardian
Whimsical, ethereal and perfectly pretty are just a few words that come to mind when we see this Edwardian 18ct Gold Opal Diamond trilogy ring! Trilogy rings have been popular for centuries, symbolising the past, present, and future with many new designs being created today. This gorgeous piece features an incandescent Opal hugged by two sparkling Diamonds. The Opal is an enchanting pale hue, with flecks of coral revealing itself in the light.
Art Nouveau
Perhaps not exactly a ring per se, but nonetheless akin to one, this 14ct Gold Art Nouveau pendant features a delicious Citrine drop in the middle, like a droplet of honey! An elegant bow drapes itself around the Gold ring, making this piece quintessentially feminine. Suspended upon a 15” or 36cm chain, you can keep this glittering piece always close to your heart.
Art Deco
This Art Deco Emerald Diamond cluster ring is perhaps one of the most elegant and timeless engagement rings we have in our collection. A juicy bright green Emerald is poised in the centre, framed by a cluster of twinkling Diamonds. Featuring an 18ct Gold shank and Platinum settings, this gorgeous ring simply glitters and sparkles at every twist and turn on your finger.
Here at Lillicoco, we have a wide range of gorgeous Gold rings on our site canvassing all of the eras above. Each of our rings are beautifully unique and can be resized upon request! Any questions, no matter how big or small, feel free to contact us at enquiries@lillicoco.com.
